Despite the growing popularity of other social media platforms, Facebook remains the most widely used platform among Nanaimo residents. The city’s natural beauty, including its stunning coastline, forests, and parks, provides a perfect backdrop for social media enthusiasts to capture and share images on Instagram, Snapchat, and other platforms.

Peterborough, located in central Ontario, has secured the fifth spot on the list of the most social media obsessed cities in Canada with 2,454 average monthly searches per 1,000 people. Facebook remains the most popular social media platform in the city, but Peterborough is also home to a popular YouTuber, Mark Chrispy, who has amassed nearly a million subscribers. Mark is known for his love of food and has made a name for himself by creating engaging YouTube content.

Where do the other cities place on the list?

Vancouver places sixth on the list as the most social media obsessed city in Canada, and rounding out the top ten is Thunder Bay, Halifax, Prince George and Windsor, respectively. Canada’s largest city Toronto places 14th on the list.

Commenting on the findings, a spokesperson from CasinoBonusCA.com said: “Social media has become a fundamental part of many people’s lives over the past decade, so it’s interesting that the older social media platforms such as Youtube and Facebook still remain supreme in popularity in Canadian cities, as opposed to newcomers such as TikTok.”
